What is Let’s Go Again?

Let’s Go Again is a newsletter to help filmmakers navigate non-dependence.

What will you read about here?

In these free weekly emails, you’ll find critical explorations of how to build a non-dependent career & body of work as a 21st-century working class filmmaker.

The mood here is a curious mix of an eager undergrad seminar and a political protest.

I believe in working class issues, critical thinking skills, craft & devotion, and having fun whenever possible.

If you read Let’s Go Again for a full year, what does it look like on the other side?

If you subscribe here for a year, my hope is that you’ll leave with:

  • New practices to build career sustainability through film financing, marketing, & distribution

  • Whimsical fun DIY marketing approaches that are easy to implement

  • A clearer understanding of how this emerging cinematic ecosystem is developing in real time

  • Case studies & examples from other filmmakers pursuing non-dependence

  • A penchant for finding the non-dependent opportunities right in front of you

  • The 30k foot view from trending conversations in the non-dependent space

What’s in it for the paid subs?

For all paid subs, in addition to more private / BTS details about my own projects that I don’t share out in the wild, you’ll also get access to TOWN HALLS.

TOWN HALLS are group calls where we workshop your questions in real time. Each call will have a theme based on trending conversations. They’ll be mainly applicable to filmmakers & writers, but can most likely be applied across disciplines.

TOWN HALLS may include topics in:

  • marketing

  • distribution

  • audience-building

  • partnerships & community infrastructure

The goal of the TOWN HALLS will be to take the concepts in the free weekly emails and help you apply them directly to your own specific projects. They’ll also connect you to a growing community of filmmakers and artists who are in the same boat.

I’m Courtney btw. A writer, director, and proud member of the NonDē filmmaking community here on FilmStack.

I founded the NonDē 50 Films Project, write for FilmStack Daily Digest, spoke at the Slamdance Film Festival’s NonDē Day in 2026, and shared with Filmmaker Magazine about the ND50 Project in December 2025.

I’m in the middle of making my first feature.

Elsewhere, you can hear me speak about:

While my focus will be heavily on films and writing, the issues facing the film industry are not unlike the issues facing publishing, music, art, and other creative and cultural sectors.

My vision for the future is this: Every working class artist can…

  • make a body of work that approaches true greatness

  • find a direct connection with their audience

  • create financial & creative sustainability through new models, new collective actions, and new innovations.

My 14+ years in marketing, my belief in working class values, and my obsession with learning how to be a more incisive, more powerful artist myself is the intersection of misfit attitudes you’ll find in my writing.

Stick around! I’d love to hear what you’re working on, what you’re struggling with, what you love. Message or email me any time.

See ya in the inbox,

Courtney
